Before you start
- An event in Badge, imported from a provider or created in TalkValue. See Add an event.
- Badges that print a QR element with QR type set to Barcode. Booth scanning reads the attendee barcode, the same value staff check-in reads. See Add elements.
- A phone with a camera for each booth.
Add booths
As the event organizer, set up one booth per sponsor before doors open.1
Open Lead Capture
Open the event and click Lead Capture in the event’s side panel, or Manage on the Lead Capture card of the event page.
2
Add a booth
Click Add booth and type a Booth name, such as the sponsor’s company. The code works until you revoke it, unless you pick a date under Code expires: then it stops working after 11:59 PM that day in the event’s time zone. Click Add booth.
3
Share the code with the booth
Click Share on the booth’s row. The dialog shows a QR code, the code with a copy button, and the Lead capture link. Anyone with the link or code can scan badges for that booth and see its leads, so send it to that booth’s staff only.
Scan leads at the booth
Booth staff follow these steps on their phone.1
Open the booth link
Open the link or scan the QR the organizer shared. To type the code instead, go to
app.trytalkvalue.com/badge/booth and enter the 6 characters. The console opens with the booth name, the event name, and the booth’s leads, newest first.2
Scan a badge
Tap Scan badge, allow camera access the first time, and point the camera at the QR on the attendee’s badge. The lead drawer opens over the camera and reads Added to your leads. For an attendee the booth already scanned, it reads Already scanned with the first scan’s time, and no second lead is added.
3
Rate and note the lead
Under Rating, tap Cold, Warm, or Hot (tap it again to clear it). Type what you talked about in Note, up to 2,000 characters. The drawer also shows the attendee’s title, company, and email from registration. Tap Save.
4
Scan the next badge
Saving closes the drawer, and the camera stays open for the next badge. Tap Close Scanner when you’re done. To change a lead later, tap it in the list.
Download leads
- At the booth. Tap the download button in the console header.
- As the organizer. Open the booth row’s menu and click Download CSV, or click the lead count on the row to view the leads and click Download CSV there. This works whatever the code’s status, including after it expires or is revoked.
Name, Email, Company, Job Title, Scanned At (in the event’s time zone, formatted YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS), Rating (COLD, WARM, or HOT), and Note.
Manage booth codes
The row menu on the Booths list holds the code actions:- Issue new code. Replaces the booth’s code, and the current one stops working right away. Leads collected so far stay with the booth. An expired or revoked booth shows New code on its row for the same action.
- Revoke code. Locks out anyone using the code on their next action. Leads are kept, and you can issue a new code later.
- Rename. Booth staff see the new name the next time their list refreshes.
- Delete booth. The code stops working, and the booth’s leads are no longer available, including to you. To block access but keep the leads, revoke the code instead.
Troubleshooting
”This QR is a contact card”
The QR holds a contact card (vCard), not the attendee barcode. Scan the badge’s check-in QR instead, or ask the organizer to add a Barcode QR to the template.”Unknown code”
The badge isn’t registered for this event. It belongs to another event, or the QR isn’t an attendee barcode.”This booth code is no longer active”
The code expired, the organizer revoked or replaced it, or the booth was deleted. Ask the organizer for the current code, then tap Enter a new code.”Too many invalid codes”
Too many codes that don’t exist were tried from this network. Wait 10 minutes, then enter the code again.Related
- Add elements. Set a badge QR to Barcode so booths can scan it.
- Access codes. The staff check-in code, which is separate from booth codes.
